Searching for Birth Records

In the past birth records are simply seen as another document that must be kept in a safe place. Through the years it was only been compiled in folders and kept in filing cabinets until was destroyed. It was a problem back in the days on how to maintain or keep birth records for a long time. But today since we are in the computer age birth records are already stored in databases that can be accessed easily and quickly. Birth records are considered to be one of the most important documents that we should not take for granted. For the reason that it is our identity, it tells us our history and where we came from and most especially our parents.

One of the most important birth records is the birth certificate. The birth certificate is needed all through out our life. Without it we cannot enter college or any school, we cannot avail of our passport and other government documents such as IDs cannot be given to us without it. So if ever you lost your birth certificate or any birth records for that matter you can always acquire a copy of it from government offices specifically the registrar’s office or the statistics office. To retrieve a copy of birth records a form must be filled out where in all the important information is needed. Data needed in the form are name, birth date, place of birth and name of parents. These are the only needed information to retrieve your birth records from the files in the registrar’s office. For some government offices, getting copies of birth records can be free. If there is a fee it is only minimal.

If you do not have the time to go to the registrar’s office or at the state’s statistics office then you can do it online. Today, government offices has established their websites where in there is a section in the website for the office of the registrar. Through that section people can request a copy of their birth records. The same form is filled-out or the form must be printed and filled-out by hands. Then the form is mailed or sent personally to the office of the registrar. After some hours or a day a copy of your birth records can already be released.

Without the Internet, we would still be doing things manually. Waiting in line, filling out forms then waiting for hours has been a thing of the past already.
