Maryland Background Check Maryland Police continue to investigate the homicide of Leroy Bass, owner of Bass Motel. Bass was with his 13 year old niece, when 2 unidentified black males entered the office armed with weapons. Bass and his niece were taken to the living quarters in the office. Bass’s niece was locked in the bathroom. Bass was then shot, however his niece was able to escape and notify police. Investigators speculate robbery as the motive for the crime.
The body of David Bell was found by Maryland police at his residence on February 27, 1997. The autopsy indicated that Bell died from fatal stab wounds. Because Bell was known to own several properties in the surrounding area, robbery was identified as a possible motive for the crime. The body of Joan Ann Charlton, a student of Frostburg College in Maryland was found on the 13th of September, 1983. She had been with her friends prior to her disappearance, and is believed to have been taken as she was on her way to her dorm room. Joan suffered fatal injuries from having been stabbed.
